God Wants Me to Be Happy 2 Timothy 1:8, Acts 5:41, Romans 8:17, Philippians 4: 4-7 Christian books flood the marketplace that tell us "God wants you to be healthy, wealthy & happy." New age philosophies inundate us with the concept that we are supposed to be happy & successful. Society tells us that we ought to be happy & how to fix it if we aren't. The New Testament indicates quite a different story. Joy, yes. Happiness, not always. Even more, when we follow Christ we will suffer. "Take up your cross" doesn't sound like happiness, but that's what Jesus called us to do. Suffering is part of discipleship.
