I love serving as a missionary with Pioneer Bible Translators. I am so moved by the fact that of the 6,912 languages being spoken on the planet today, over half of them do not have any scripture that has been translated into them. Thank you for partnering with our family in missions, as we are part of a huge team devoted to translating God’s Word for Bible-less people groups and seeing those scriptures IN USE. My “call” to missions came when I was a teenager. I was soaking in prayer and God’s Word, when I read Jesus’ words with fresh eyes: “Go into all the world and tell the Good News to every ethnic group.” I took his Great Commission personally and seriously; I thought, “He’s talking to ME.” And so I said, “Here I am. I am willing to go anywhere on the planet you send me.” Since that day, I have prayerfully cultivated that mindset, that ready stance. “Lord, I’m yours. I’ll go. Send me.” And I’ve been thrilled and amazed at what God has done. God has used our family to translate the New Testament for the Aruamu people of Papua New Guinea—a primitive jungle people group. He is continuing to use us to impact Bible-less peoples around the world. Many of you know my story. My husband, John Relyea, died just as our translation was being printed. God has carried me and my three children through deep waters. I recently married Nathan Miles, a widower with three daughters. Nathan is also involved in Bible translation ministry as a Bible translation software developer with United Bible Societies. What a perfect match! God is so GOOD to us. I am currently serving on PBT’s leadership team, based in Dallas, TX, our launching pad for Bible translation efforts in MANY countries. Pioneer Bible Translators currently works in East Africa, West Africa, Papua New Guinea, Ukraine, Siberia, India, Vanuatu, and Southeast Asia. We are currently translating for projects which affect 9.5 million people. We have many new potential projects that are open to us. We are asking the Lord to help us recruit 200 new missionaries in the next four years, so that we can walk through these open doors. We are asking the Lord to use us to open four new fields in the next four years. We are in the process of raising funding for a new International Office in Dallas, TX, which is the heart of our ministry around the world. My current role on PBT’s leadership team is two-fold. I am Director of Church Mobilization and Development, heading up a team to bridge the gap between Christians in the U.S. and the front lines of Bible translation. I am also on PBT’s International Team, supporting all of our field projects with resources, consultant help, and strategic planning assistance. I love being a part of a highly effective team, changing the world by bringing the Word to LIFE in unreached people groups. Thank you so much for being a part of that team, by your continued support and prayers and encouragement. |
