Behind the Scenes Miracle John 2:1-11 Jesus is invited to attend a wedding in a town called Cana. His mother, Mary, is also at the same event (maybe this was a family relative?). We don't know if it was poor planning or if the families couldn't afford more wine for the marriage celebration, but they ran out of "punch" for the punch bowl. And I suppose that of all the amazing things that Christ did in healing and teaching and in life, this might be something that makes you wonder why he created wine out of water. John says it's Christ's first miracle. Hmmmm. Not a little wine, but no less than 120 gallons of wine. Jesus is powerful, that is easy to see. But he also cares about even what we may consider to be the mundane. In fact, what I might read about in the Cana Gazette under "Marriages and Elopements", but then quickly skip to the sports section, was what Jesus responded to with His first miracle, a miracle in the mundane. right click > "save as.." to download the audio file |
