John 6:1-18 —The story of Jesus feeding the 5000 is the only miracle told in all four Gospels. In this story we see that Jesus intentionally tests Philip. Jesus is powerful. Jesus provides. Jesus uses the little to feed the huge crowd, but Jesus also tests. Our faith is not only found in simple intellectual acknowledgement, it is found in the living out, the practice, the experience of our faith. Our faith will be tested. In fact, it is only deepened by being tested. But we have nothing to fear because we rely not on our own power, but on the power of Christ.
